Doing sit ups help to strengthen the core. Performing this exericise increases core strength. To perform this exercise you bend your legs and put your feet on the ground. Then, you lay your torso and head on the ground. Next, bring your torso and head to meet your bent knees. Then you lower yourself back down. Make sure during this exercise no one is holding your feet down because it can cause your hip flexors to become tense and not as flexible. In gymnasts, you shouldn't have your hip flexors tightened because you need them to be flexible.
